Help the Hood’s - Adoption Prayer Bracelets

May 30, 2006 | Filed Under Uncategorized | Leave a Comment

You may have seen this cool bracelet that I often wear while we meet over coffee or maybe during a photo shoot. It is a prayer bracelet for Jadyn Grace Hood, who will be adopted from China by Pat & Amy sometime in the next several months. Each bead represents a different prayer that they have for Jadyn, like that she will be found quickly when she is abandoned by her birth mother, and that she will know their voices when the Hood’s arrive to pick her up and she will know she has found her “forever family.” While praying for Jadyn and for other children who are yet to be adopted, I decided that you might want to help the Hood’s too.

Here’s where you can read more and place an order for a bracelet of your own, with the funds going to help the Hood’s with their travel and adoption expenses. There are two different kinds of bracelets, and Amy can also customize the bracelets with beads that represent another country if you want one for your own (or a friend’s) international adoption.

Please think about giving these as gifts to your friends, teachers, family members, etc. And say a little prayer for Jadyn today.

Worn Out!

I decided to cancel my trip to Indianapolis because I am just worn out! With two weddings this past weekend and several sessions that need to be edited and released to clients, I am not in the position to get away. So, I am going to enjoy two days with no appointments, and buckle down for some hard-core catching up.

Thursday is our next PUG meeting, so if you’re a photographer, or if you are thinking about becoming a photographer, and you want to hang out and learn with other photographers in Nashville, let me know and I will tell you all about it. This Thursday at 6:30pm we will be meeting to discuss the new Pictage Album Designer and talking about album designs, pricing, vendors, etc.

Great Day for a Wedding

Dace and Aimee were married Sunday at the historic St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Franklin. The ceremony was very beautiful. It was really hard not to take pictures but I understood and completely respected the minister’s request to refrain from photography until they were on their way back down the aisle.

I don’t typically post a posed group shot like the one here, but I loved this courtyard and I thought that this image was particularly pretty. The posed portraits after the wedding maybe took 15 minutes. Everything flowed smoothly and we got to the reception in no time! The reception was held at Green’s Grocery in Leiper’s Fork. This place has awesome character. The band was rockin’ and the food was delicious.

Phil was my second shooter for the day, and we had fun. He loves my 50mm 1.4 lens and couldn’t help showing me several awesome shots he got. We stood outside downloading images and burning discs so long that I had to jump off his car before we left. It was pretty funny. We had a good time together and I am thankful that I had the opportunity to shoot Phil & Mindy’s wedding last July, and now less than a year later, we are working together! Fun times.

Bryan & Joahna’s Big Day

Bryan and Joahna’s wedding day was a beautiful one, with sunny blue skies and warm weather. Becca & I ventured out to Rutledge Falls, in Tullahoma to join them in celebration of their marriage.

As soon as we pulled up to the church we were blown away by the scenery. An awesome red barn made a nice backdrop for photos of the happy couple. And I couldn’t wait to march the wedding party up this hill for some scenic outdoor photos.

Thanks to Becca for joining me at the last minute - I had so much fun! And Bryan & Joahna, I pray God’s blessings on your marriage and I hope you enjoy your honeymoon!

Bill & Sheri in the South

Hi y’all! I was pleased to welcome Bill & Sheri to Tennessee today for a visit. They live in Philadelphia, and flew in for the weekend for their engagement session. I will be going there to shoot their wedding in late October.

This was the first time we have met in person, but it felt like hanging out with old friends. We borrowed this ‘53 Chevy pick up truck from Brad’s boss, and it was the perfect accessory for our shoot.

We went to Toot’s in Smyrna for dinner and enjoyed some fried dill pickle chips. We had no idea that Sheri loves dill pickles, so this worked out perfectly! Thanks for coming all the way to TN for your session. I love the images and can’t wait to share them all with you in the next couple of weeks! Safe travels!

Sullivan = HOT

The Sullivan sisters came out to Turner Farms last night for a shoot for images for their CD and new website. They are a fun bunch of ladies who make beautiful music together and I just know they’re on their way up up up! Check out their current site for dates of their next performances, and listen to a few clips of their songs online. And don’t get burned by these HOT pictures.

Congratulations Tha & Pooh!

I truly enjoyed being with Tha & Pooh tonight at their reception in Smyrna. I estimate that there were more than 1300 people there to celebrate their marriage and have a great time. It was standing room only!

As each guest came in to the reception, Tha & Pooh greeted them at the door. This picture shows the receiving line by the front door.

After the traditional dances, Tha & Pooh changed into their American wedding attire, and came in with their wedding party to dance and cut the cake. It was a blast!

Thanks for the Note

I opened my mailbox to find the sweetest card from Janna’s Mom, shown here getting ready on their big day, May 13. It reads:

“Dear Alison,
It was a pleasure to finally meet you at Janna & Scott’s wedding. After seeing their engagement photos, I was very excited to know that you would be taking the photographs on their wedding day.

I visited your website and saw your blog for May 13. What a great photo of Janna and Scott. It looked like a photo out of a wedding magazine, actually better than most since there is chemistry between the two of them. I am really looking forward to seeing the rest of the photos from their special day.

God has truly gifted you with the camera and I am so thankful that Janna and Scott chose you as their photographer.

God bless, Mary Jo Bibbs”

You made my day, Mary Jo! Thank you so much for sharing your family with me.

Tha & Pooh

I went out to Cheekwood today with the beautiful Pooh & her fiance Tha. Their families came along to take some formal pictures in the gardens. We couldn’t have asked for better weather because the sky was blue and a nice breeze was blowing.

Tha & Pooh are having a traditional Laotian wedding on Saturday morning, and then a reception for 1000 of their friends and family members. WOW. This will be the largest event that I have ever covered before, and the thing I am most looking forward to is seeing Tha & Pooh in their Laotian wedding garments. About half way through the reception they will change into their American wedding outfits, which is what they wore today. Aren’t they a nice looking couple?
