Misty & Bob’s Engagement Session
November 25, 2006 | Filed Under engagement | 1 Comment

I could not have asked for more beautiful weather today for Misty & Bob’s Engagement Session in Murfreesboro. 70 degrees, a little breeze, and bright sunshine…mix in some skateboards and two people in love, and it was a good day.
We started out at Cannonsburgh, where Misty & Bob demonstrated their skateboarding techniques. They were telling me that they live on the beach, and they use their bikes and skateboards for transportation quite often.
Then we went up to the Square and wandered around up there. Misty & Bob are both lawyers, so photos in front of the courthouse and all of the law firms on the Square were appropriate for them.
They will be married at Daffodil Hill on Main Street in Murfreesboro this June - I can’t wait to see them all dressed up on their big day!

Will’s 1 Year Portraits
November 19, 2006 | Filed Under babies, kids | 4 Comments

I can’t believe that Will is 1 year old already. His birthday was actually a whole month ago, but since he has moved to Knoxville, this was the first chance we had to do the session. I love that Amanda put him in one of Jeremy’s shirts. We’re going to try and do that type of shot every year to watch him grow.
The horse Will is riding was Amanda’s when she was a child. She knew it would make her Daddy laugh to see that it made the trip to Smyrna for pictures.
This is my first baby panel ever to complete. I will have another one to share in the next few weeks, as Jonah’s birthday was just a few days later than Will’s.
We went out and did some family shots - but you’ll have to wait until you receive Amanda & Jeremy’s Christmas Card to see those. I know you can hardly wait!

Received this email at 10PM last night…
“This is a notice that we will be running a server upgrade at midnight EST tonight. During this time your website will be down for 3 to 6 hours. For most of us this will be during sleep hours. You will not lose any data or e-mails during that time. The result should be a faster and more reliable server. We are very sorry for the inconvenience and any of the recent issues that have occurred with this server. Thank you for your understanding in this matter.”
It is 7:20AM Central and it is still down. So, if you need to reach me by email today, please use my personal address, alison.bynum@comcast.net. And if you have referred friends to me, please let them know to look at this blog because they won’t find me on the web. I haven’t closed up shop or anything - just an upgrade to serve you better!
A Day in the Life of Rylie Grace
November 11, 2006 | Filed Under babies, celebrating adoption, family, kids | 1 Comment

I woke up this morning to a little pain in my wrist, and I knew it must be raining. Since I got this new pink cast my wrist has been hurting a little more than it did before, but this is normal. I guess the new cast is pushing on the bones a little more.
This little twinge couldn’t stop me from heading out to Spring Hill to play with precious 1 year-old Rylie Grace and her parents at their home. We had fun getting to know each other while she was still in her adorable pajamas.
Next we splashed during bath time. Even her dog Barkley joined in the fun.
Then she put on her birthday hat and modeled her special dress for me. I love this shot!
Rylie Grace knows sign language and was able to tell Mom & Dad that she was hungry. So we got some shots of a mid-morning snack, complete with milk to drink.
Thanks for letting me come and play today!
The Cast is the Photographer’s Must Have Accessory of the Season

Ha Ha. Here’s a funny shot of me and my dear friend Amber Holritz at the OSP-South Conference on Monday. We both are modeling the black wrist cast, which all of the coolest photographers are sporting this season.
Actually, I just went to the Doctor yesterday (shout-out to the wonderful Dr. Steinagle) and he prescribed two more weeks in the short cast. So I now have a bubble gum pink cast until the Monday after Thanksgiving. Then it will be a velcro brace for a while combined with physical therapy and I will be good as new.
When I get a decent photo of the pink cast I will post it. For now enjoy the pic of Amber and me modeling our clumsiness.
OSP-South Group Shot

Stole this pic from OSP and it was taken by Nathan with the timer.
We had a great two day conference in Chattanooga on Mon-Tues. But I am home working on personal stuff and buckling down to get images out the door.
**EDIT** Yes, that’s me in the front with the awesome cast, and No, I am not flipping anyone off. Also, this was our group from the group photo shoot, which was only 1/4 of the attendees.

If you haven’t done so already, I encourage you to vote today. I think the polls close at 7PM (maybe at 8?) but if you’re in line at that time then you will still get to stay and vote. JUST DO IT!

I am hanging out in my hotel room in downtown Chattanooga reflecting on my day with all my friends from OSP Forums. It is really just ridiculous that you can form relationships with other people through online communities, but it happens before you know it. There are a hundred photographers from across the country who have gathered here for some fun and learning.
This morning kicked off with a fabulous presentation by Nathan Holritz, unveiling some of his new interface for Photographers Office, a web-based application for photographers to help them manage their workflow.
I went to the Big River Grille for a late lunch with Stan, Charlotte, Jason, Matt & Sarah, Leann and Jill and we all got to know each other by swapping tips and tricks and lots of stories.
After our lunch, we went to the Chattanooga Choo-Choo for a group photo shoot. These photos above are a few quick favorites from today. Nam was the model for our shoot, and I know it was challenging to keep a straight face for all of us, but he did a fabulous job.
We enjoyed dinner at the yummy Sushi Nabe restaurant (Boston Roll=delicious) and then went to Garrett & Joy’s new studio for dessert.
More pics and posts tomorrow.
Drew & Sarah’s Engagement Session

I am so excited that Drew & Sarah have asked me to work with them for their wedding. Sarah’s sister is Nellie Gould, who has her own photo studio in Illinois, so photos of the big day is a huge part of the planning. I am honored that I am getting to work with their family again. I shot their cousin Sally’s wedding this July in Nashville.
After a busy weekend of childrens and family portraits, Drew & Sarah were a breath of fresh air. I didn’t have to get out a squeaker or make any kind of silly faces to get great smiles from these two. Hope you enjoy this sneak preview.
