No, these are not models that I hired for a family photo session - they are a real family and aren’t they adorable?
Baby Marin had fun playing with her dogs and ours and hanging out in the leaves on Saturday afternoon. Thanks to Andrea for sending this family my way. We had fun!
More photos to come…
Sealy Family

Meet the Sealy Family. We also go to church together at FBC Smyrna. I first met Mom Tammy when we played handbells next to each other for a couple of years.
It was fun to be with the Sealy’s because it was refreshing to observe the love they all shared. They laughed and laughed at each other (especially at the silly things Dad Wendell did) and even Wendell and Tammy enjoyed each others company (see photo of them hanging out in the barn…).
In a time where many marriages do not make it, I am happy for Sam and Rebecca that they can see a great model of marriage in their parents. Thank you for allowing me to photograph your family!
Gordon Family

Kicking off my Saturday, I enjoyed hanging out with the Gordon Family. They just returned from a fun-filled week at Disney, which you can read all about on Ashley’s blog.
Ashley and I have known each other for a long time. We grew up on the same street in Nashville, so it was funny when we ran into each other several times at church and neither of us could figure out how we knew the other. This spring we put it all together and enjoyed a photo session of all the grandkids in her family as Mothers Day and Fathers Day gifts for her parents.
Dad John and son John talked Mom and Sam into taking home a puppy. “Little D” now resides with the Gordon’s and I can’t wait to see what his new name will be. He was our only male chocolate lab. It was an awesome feeling to see him going to a family who will love him, play with him a lot and that he might go hunting with John. Hooray!
These are a few of my quick picks from the day.
Hallgren Family Portraits

When you’re a professional photographer, you sometimes have a hard time letting go and letting other people photograph your children/family. The downfall to this is that as a parent, you are rarely in the photos with your kids or spouse. Fine for now, but what a tragedy for your kids and grandkids who will lack memories or you if you stay out of the images.
My dear friend and colleague Andrea Hallgren brought her family including her talented musician husband Scott Hallgren to Turner Farms for a family session on Thursday. We had gorgeous sunlight to cap off the day.
Thank you for giving me the honor of creating some family memories with Andrea in the picture too.
Sanders Girls

Meet the Sanders Sisters. Aren’t they cute? I had fun with them, mostly because they were SO sweet to each other. It’s fun to meet kids who are kind.
These girls were animal lovers - especially Abby. She got very concerned when she saw all of the puppies, because she wasn’t sure they would all have good homes. I assured her they would go to homes with families who would love them very much and children who would play with them.
That still didn’t prevent her from becoming attached. Mom & Dad - there are still a few puppies left…it would be a great Christmas gift!
Amelia’s 1 Year Session

These photos of Amelia kicked off my Family Weekend at Turner Farms. This shot of the large tree in the front yard is a good way to set the scene because it is just perfect. Golden leaves on the tree and a covering on the ground made a perfect backdrop.
We started out in the frost on Friday morning, but Amelia dressed warm and we didn’t go too far out of the sun so it ended up just fine.
Thanks for coming out to play!
Where Are You?

It cracks me up at the amount of email and phone messages I racked up in two days, and how many of them said “Alison, where are you???” I am usually SO fast at responding to emails and phone calls because I am working in front of my computer all day. I spent the last two days working with Andrew Niesen of LaCour at David Lipscomb University here in Nashville. Andrew was shooting around campus for the new viewbook and other admissions materials and I assisted him with his equipment (I know you’re laughing since I have a broken wrist) and setting his light, etc.
It was really fun and I learned a lot just by watching another professional work. He has great interactions with his clients, and the students and administrators all felt very comfortable with him. The images I saw him create were amazing. And, I got a great workout because we definitely did not travel light. We had lots of extra gear in comparison to what I use when shooting a wedding.
So to answer your question, that’s where I have been the past two days. Sadly, I have NO pictures to share because I had way too much to do to try and carry an extra camera along, but you’ll just have to trust me when I say it was fun.
