FHEO #10 and other thoughts…
January 29, 2007 | Filed Under Uncategorized | Leave a Comment
I shot my tenth For His Eyes Only session today and it went awesome. We had great natural light, shooting in the bedroom AND on/around a beautiful grand piano. “He” is really going to enjoy these photos. Thanks for letting me help you give your husband this gift!
This is a busy time for wedding consultations, since a lot of girls get engaged around Christmas and then another wave around Valentine’s Day. I have a consultation scheduled for Friday afternoon that I am really looking forward to - the sister of one of my baby portrait clients.
Also got invited to participate in the Franklin Bridal Ball, a really nice event for brides that will be held in July. It’s on a Saturday, so I have to give up shooting a wedding that weekend if I commit to do the show. It’s a LOT of work to do a Bridal show, and the results are highly unpredictable. But in my opinion, this is the greatest show with the most qualified leads for me, so if I do one at all, this will be it. What do you think? As a bride or former bride, what are your thoughts…would you like your vendors to participate in shows or does it matter? Do you feel that vendors you meet at shows are more credible than others? Do you feel the vendors who do shows are hurting for business? I’d love to hear from you if you have some input for me. I am just not sure what I want to do yet.
OH - and if your wedding date is July 14, 2007 and you’re interested in booking me for coverage, you probably want to let me know that pretty soon also!!!

I stayed up late tonight working on Nickie & Jeremy’s Wedding Album design. It was really fun to relive the whole event through the photographs that Kyle and I took throughout their special day.

FBC Smyrna Staff Photos

Here are a few new shots for the FBC Smyrna Staff photo page of the website.
I shot the rest of the photos for the page (and several of the photos throughout the site) earlier last year. I love how they are casual and represent real activities and real people at our church.
Melanie is transitioning to a new position in our Student Ministry, focusing on ministries to Girls. Allen is our new Children’s Minister. Tim is going to be our Global Initiatives Minister. I might have their exact titles incorrect, but you get the idea. They are not all brand new to our church, but welcome to your new roles!
As things are a little slower for me this winter season, it is a great time to work on special projects like this.
Please don’t hesitate to contact me for promotional photos of your church, school or business that can be used on the web or in print materials. Great photos will communicate your message clearly. Let me know how I can help you!

I am uploading Misty & Bob’s engagement photos right now and this image made me smile. It was such a warm and comfortable day (Thanksgiving weekend) and the sun was shining bright. I love how Misty & Bob are SO happy in this shot of them skateboarding on the greenway.
Girls Just Want To Have Fun…and Rock at Photography!

I went to a get together tonight at the home of Tamara Reynolds, a commercial photographer based in the Nashville area. There were several ladies there whom I had never had the pleasure of meeting before, and a few familiar faces too!
I picked up Whitney Carlson on my way, and we enjoyed chatting during our car rides about all sorts of things! Andrea Hallgren brought Erica Erck, who has recently relocated to Nashville from North Carolina. It was great to connect with her, and we are even getting together for coffee next week! Melanie McLellan, Donna Jones Bailey and Angie Sliger were other familiar faces.
Folks I enjoyed meeting for the first time were Mary Crow, Martina Michalova, Sheri O’Neal, Rachel Paul, Susan Walker…and I am sure there is someone lovely I am leaving out and I am SO sorry for that! :o)
We were able to view some fabulous handmade books by Jill Jevne, a bookbinding artist who is interested in doing some new wedding books. They were so beautiful!
Thanks Tamara for opening your home to a bunch of girls who love to talk about things like photoshop, RAW files and computers…it was a blast!
For His Eyes Only…Revised
January 23, 2007 | Filed Under Uncategorized | 7 Comments
I got a comment on one of my recent postings of some sample images of “For His Eyes Only” sessions that sparked some new ponderings. I have deleted the posts and comments being referenced, but I wanted to leave my response here permanently to make my position clear.
I want to apologize for not considering this aspect of my recent posts…I was and am still so tickled to be able to provide women a new and different gift to give to their husbands. In my haste to share the joy of this gift, I overlooked what is important about the sessions - though the identity of the women were concealed, the photographs were meant for no one but their husbands. Not even in a faceless manner… So, feeling convicted, I have removed the images and corresponding posts. Please forgive me if I have offended you, because it wasn’t my intent to do that. And guys, if I caused you to stumble, I am sorry about that too.
I wish the Anonymous poster had been brave enough to contact me directly to give me this word instead of just commenting in public. I hope you’ll always feel welcome to do that if you have an issue you want to address with me.
Preaching five Sundays about SEX?
January 21, 2007 | Filed Under Uncategorized | 1 Comment
You heard me correctly. Our Pastor, Pat Hood is preaching a five week sermon series on Pure Sex. Today was the first sermon, titled “The Greatest Sex is Pure Sex.”
Now I don’t know about you, but I have not heard of many churches that have leadership who are so bold to preach on this topic. If you really think about it, sex and sexuality are the undertones to our society. Our lives are made or broken around sexual relationships, both healthy and abusive.
Pat’s sermon today was so relevant. It echoed part of the reason that I have been so excited about the For His Eyes Only sessions. I believe that sex and sexuality between a husband and a wife is beautiful. It was created by God for our enjoyment, and He delights in us when we are sharing our love with our husband or wife in this way. I have so enjoyed photographing these women, because they are honoring their husbands with a gift ONLY for him, that will bring him great joy. That makes it fun for them and fun for me too!
Click on the PureSex photo at the top of the post to view all of the topics, and notice the daily Bible readings for this week that will help guide us in further exploring the topic.
Bradley’s 9 Month Session
January 20, 2007 | Filed Under kids | 1 Comment

Bradley and his family came over today for a bit for a few photos of him at 9 Months. He has grown SO much since our first session this spring. His little legs are getting so long and lean.
When I first started photographing this family, Kelly shared that a portrait session of her two girls when they were babies was one of the most stressful times in her marriage. So far, Bradley has been such a good baby to photograph…but we aren’t out of the woods yet since we still have 12 and 18 months ahead of us!
I had to post up the last picture for big sister Parker, who was a great helper today. She squeaked the squeaker to get Bradley’s attention, and then gave our dog Katy lots of lovin’ before heading home. Thanks Parker!
Reminisce Heirlooms

Bynum Photography was featured on the Reminisce Heirlooms blog today. Tabetha is going to be making some one-of-a-kind gifts for my 2007 clients throughout the year. I wanted to give her some blog-love, because I think her little pendants and baubles are precious and you should definitely check into ordering some for yourself and as gifts for friends and family. I am happy to work with her so that you can purchase her handmade jewelry with images from your BynumPhoto session.
And, if you’re a 2007 client, just know that I have a little something special coming your way around the December holidays. ![]()
