This shot jumped out at me while I was editing through the images that Kyle shot on Saturday. Click on it to see it larger, but grab a tissue first!

More of the Overby Family Portraits in Murfreesboro

March 26, 2007 | Filed Under family | Leave a Comment

I have only shown you one of the Overby’s pictures so far, so I decided to put up a few more. They are just so cool I couldn’t resist!

I am in love with this shot of Dick & Leslie. I think it is very common once you are past the no-kids part of your marriage, not to take a picture of just the two of you. Leslie was thinking that their wedding might have been the last time they had professional pictures taken of just the two of them. I think this is a shot that can get them by for a few more years… :) This shot and the next couple were taken on the Greenway in Murfreesboro, just off of the Manson Pike Trailhead.

Dick and Addie were having a little race. Can you imagine how special this image will be to her when she is older? I mean, I love it already. There’s just something about a dad and his little girl…

Another shot on this bridge. I like the light in this one. Addie was having fun swinging on the arms of whoever would hold her up.

Then we went over to Cannonsburgh, which you all know is one of my favorite places to shoot. There are just so many options for backgrounds, and if kids have never been there, there are LOTS of places to explore. I find a new place every time I go there…

Here’s all the kiddos…I think by the end of the day I FINALLY got the boys’s names straight - Left to Right, there’s Sarah, Jarrod, Addie, Justin and Jeremy. Whew!

Addie went up and down, up and down…over and over. With two year olds, action shots abound because that is what they are at this age - very active!

OK, so this is my favorite from the day. I decided to crop it to a panoramic image…because I really like the way everyone’s shoes are different and it kind of illustrates to me how all of these different people blend into a family. And of course, having Addie out front highlights her new special place in this family that has been woven together by God. I think this would look awesome as a 10×20 or 15×30, with a white gallery mat and solid black frame.

So there’s my re-cap of the Overby Family. I will be releasing the complete gallery later this week.

Congratulations JD & April

March 25, 2007 | Filed Under wedding | Leave a Comment

I just got home from a fabulous weekend in West Tennessee & North Mississippi where JD & April were married at Minor Memorial United Methodist Church on Saturday. Kyle went along as my second shooter, and along with capturing moments from the day from an additional perspective, he also kept all of the groomsmen updated on the score of the Memphis v. Ohio State NCAA tournament basketball game using his concealed radio earpiece.

April looked beautiful as she added a few finishing touches to her makeup. Her dress was from David’s Bridal.

I love this shot of one of the flower girls, Riley, kicked back on the floor watching the other girls helping April get dressed.

April’s grandfather walked her down the aisle. You could see his love for her in his eyes. They glistened with (happy) tears all day long. He was proud to be her escort.

April surprised JD by having his ring inscribed with a special message.

A couple shots of JD & April… April’s bouquet was very unique. I really liked longer, creamy, fern-like pieces in there. Marianne’s Flower Patch created these and the other floral arrangements.

I think this is a cute shot as JD & April entered their wedding reception at Olive Branch Country Club in Olive Branch, Mississippi. They were so excited to get the party started with their friends and family!

JD really enjoys golf, so his groom’s cake, by Your Wedding Cake Store, was a golf ball on some green grass. You can see that JD & April both turned a little green while eating their first bites of cake. April avoided it on her face, but it was under her fingernails for a while!

Sticking with the golf theme, we ventured out on to the putting green for a few putts…here’s April, already an encouraging wife to her golfing husband!

Kyle and I had a great time with the Simko & Melton families, and we are excited to release your complete gallery of images to you in a couple of weeks. Click HERE to enter your email and be notified when the wedding pictures are available! Thanks for being so great to work with! Have fun on your cruise!

Drew & Sarah’s Nashville Wedding Reception

March 23, 2007 | Filed Under wedding | Leave a Comment

Drew & Sarah’s wedding reception was held at Gaylord Opryland (or Opryland Hotel, for old-school Nashvillians) in the Magnolia Ballroom. We arrived to a cocktail hour, and then the doors opened to a beautiful plated dinner and dancing the night away.

The cake was a tribute to Drew & Sarah’s honeymoon…IN PARIS! Cake by Gaylord Opryland.

Here’s Drew & Sarah getting down on the dance floor. Justin and Adam of Spangler Entertainment were the DJ’s for the night. They kept the party going until after midnight.

Here’s a shot of the last dance.

A big thank you to Drew & Sarah and the Williams and Wooldridge families for inviting me to be a part of your day. And thank you to Matt Dunmore, who joined me for the day to provide full coverage for the event. You can check out some of Matt’s shots from the day HERE, and be sure to watch his slideshow too. Matt is an excellent photographer and I love it when he is available to work with me…which is not too often!

I am headed to Mississippi tonight for a wedding on Saturday…
Have a great day and get out and enjoy this gorgeous day!

Drew & Sarah’s Fabulous Wedding

March 23, 2007 | Filed Under wedding | Leave a Comment

I promised more pictures from Drew & Sarah’s fabulous wedding in Nashville on March 16, so here you go. I hope you enjoy!

After the time we spent in the spa, we headed up to Sarah’s suite where she finished getting ready. Her Mom put this necklace on her, which has been worn by all the women in her family on their wedding day for many generations.

Sarah’s bouquet was gorgeous. Angel at Dick’s Flowers was the woman behind this great bouquet.

Here’s the beautiful bride…

And the handsome groom…

A few of the happy couple…

The wedding ceremony took place at the Wightman Chapel at Scarritt Bennett in downtown Nashville. This is a gorgeous chapel built in 1928 and it is on the National Historic Register. The high ceilings and large windows make it a beautiful place for a wedding. Deanna Williams was the woman in charge of keeping the wedding on track, and let me tell you, she was great to work with…very detailed, very calm, etc. Tony & Gipsy Williams with Premier Video Productions were the videographers for the day. I enjoyed working with them as well.

Here’s a shot Matt got of me working during the ceremony…

And I snagged one of him as well…

Here’s the kiss…

I love this shot as Drew & Sarah exited the church, and all the wedding party began to gather and congratulate them.

It was definitely a nice day…

Wedding Day Hair & Makeup at Relache Spa

March 22, 2007 | Filed Under wedding | 3 Comments

There are so many great shots that I want to share from Drew & Sarah’s wedding, that I simply cannot do it all in one post. So, I am going to kick it off today by sharing some shots from the ladies’ prep time at the salon. Sarah works for the Relache Spa at Gaylord Opryland, so this was the place to be on Friday morning for hair and makeup. Some of the guys even came in to get massages to help them relax before the festivities.

Sarah’s hair turned out so adorably. She chose to do a bow with the back of her hair, that mimics the bow on the back of her dress, which you will see in a later post. We couldn’t quit oohing and aahing over it.

Then it was on to makeup. The makeup area was really pretty, and a bunch of the girls congregated there to chat while Sarah was finishing up her makeup. The ladies were all so glamorous - the girls at Relache really know what they are doing! Later, when Sarah had an eyelash crisis, they even came to her rescue up in the room.

You can tell that these guys like to have fun at work. They laughed and cut up the whole morning. For those of you who were there and know what happened just prior to this photo - this one’s for you!

Here’s a final shot from the salon, as they put Sarah’s veil on and she caught a glimpse of herself all made up. She looked so beautiful. This long veil was a great accessory. You’ll be seeing more of it too.

Hope you enjoyed this start to Drew & Sarah’s wedding day. If you are still looking for a great place to take your wedding party for hair & makeup, this is a fabulous option.

Here’s a quick favorite shot from the Overby Family’s Photo Session in Murfreesboro today. I know you’re already in love with Addie from this photo and these last week. Now we can all be in love with how cute her whole family is, and how much they all love their new daughter & sister. Oh - just wait until you see the rest!

Congratulations Drew & Sarah

We had the most amazing day with Drew & Sarah yesterday! I won’t be doing a full post about their beautiful day until Monday, but I couldn’t wait to share this one picture! As soon as I took it I couldn’t wait to see it again - when you know you have a killer shot you just know!

I will say - the first wedding of the year kicked my butt and I am so sore this morning. But I am charging batteries and cleaning my lenses in preparation of photographing the Overby Family this afternoon. Should be fun! Check back next week for Drew & Sarah’s wedding re-cap and photos of the Overby’s!

All set for our Destination Wedding in Belize

March 15, 2007 | Filed Under destination wedding, wedding | 5 Comments

Look what came today. I am SO excited! I am “officially” ready to travel to Belize for Liz & Carl’s Destination Wedding in April.

In addition to being ready to go for anyone else’s Destination Wedding (or Portrait Session, hint hint) this opens up a world of opportunity for me for short-term missions. Whether photography related or not, I will be excited to see how God can use this little booklet of paper to continue shaping me into the woman he wants me to be! :)

My 2007 wedding season kicks off tomorrow with Drew & Sarah’s wedding in Nashville. Check back soon for fabulous wedding photos from me and Matt, my talented second-shooter for the day!
