Bradley’s One Year Portrait Session

Another BynumPhoto Baby turns one! Bradley was such a good boy today. Of course, he is all smiles every time I photograph him. Check him out at three, six and nine months.
He was so quick to climb up on top of this stool. Then he was very proud of himself!
Kelly stripped him down for a few pictures with his birthday cake, and while she was getting the cake ready, he climbed back onto the stool. I love this picture!
This was my first time to photograph a baby with a cake. The white backdrop went straight into the washer after we were finished!
The results of the cake pictures are awesome! I can’t wait to do little Hadley’s one year session and her cake pictures next week!
Bewley Family Portraits in Antioch

Tim, Holly and bright-eyed baby McClain came out to Turner Farms today for their family portrait session and McClain’s 6 month photos. We couldn’t have asked for a better day. Just perfect for exploring the outdoors together as a family!
I picked this shot as one of my favorites because it is such a “dad” thing to do. How many times do you see a dad flip their little one upside down, as mom gasps? So cute.
Holly wisely chose blue as the color theme of their outfits today because it definitely accentuated the blue in McClain’s eyes.
His eyes were so yummy that I could hardly stand to back off of them while photographing, but I did manage to pull myself away to catch this detail shot of his little feet in the grass.
McClain smiles big like this when mom or dad start singing “Jesus loves me” or “Jesus loves the little children.” He is a sweet soul already!
We were going for a couple tummy shots, but rolling around was much more fun.
Thanks so much Bewley Family! And thanks to Mom for the nice ice water to cool us off between shots!
Fox Family Portraits at Belle Meade Plantation

Little Miss Bella is 2 and a half, and such a smart and fun little princess. I met her, her Daddy (Dudney) and “M” (Mears to the rest of us) out at the Belle Meade Plantation for a photo session that was received as a gift from M’s sister for Christmas. Here’s a few of my favorites…
I really liked how Bella and Dudney were making the same face here.
Love those blue eyes. We were playing peekaboo for a few minutes to catch this sweet smile.
After running around in the grass with no shoes on for a bit, Bella slowed down long enough to let her Daddy put her shoes back on. Little moments like this occur every day…it was a very important conversation.
A few shots with the whole family. M’s eyes were beautifully sparkly today too.
Possibly my favorite from the whole day. Peek-a-boo with Daddy.
We bonded over the squeaky toy. That’s pretty typical for my clients around this age.

I think this is a sweet shot of M and Bella. Precious.
Thanks for hanging out with me today, Fox Family. It was fun!
My Grandmother, Mom

My grandmother, Marvoline Dempsey, or “Mom” as we all know her by, passed away this morning after about a year long battle with cancer (lymphoma). We had just been told last week that she had about 2 months remaining. She was just tired and ready to go home to be with the Lord.
This is from this Thanksgiving.
And these are both from Christmas.

Mom was a talented seamstress for many years. She was also a great cook. But most of all, she was a good grandmother. The kind that took care of you when you were sick, taught you to sew and crochet about a million times and kept a scrap box just for you to play with under her sewing table, was always was proud of you no matter what, and let you eat ice cream when you didn’t finish your dinner.
Arrangements:

Woodlawn Memorial Park
660 Thompson Lane

Visitation: Thursday April 26, 5-8PM
Funeral: Friday April 27, 10AM
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in her memory to Alive Hospice, who provided excellent care and allowed Mom to remain at home and pass away without pain.
Liz & Carl, Destination Wedding in Belize

This post is really long, but I thought you’d want to see the story unfold!
The morning of Liz & Carl’s wedding was pretty laid back. After a swim in the pool, Mom, Kyle and I had gone out for a walk down the beach, and we happened upon Liz & Carl returning from a dive. I am so glad I got to get a pic of them in their wetsuits. They went on several trips while they were there, so it will be a good memory for them.
We returned to the Belize Yacht Club and went for another swim. Liz was tanning by the pool to get a last minute glow. Then she headed in for a manicure and pedicure. Irma really did a great job, and Carl stopped by for some entertainment.
Then we all got cleaned up and ready for the action. I joined Liz as she began getting ready, and Kyle caught up with Carl. Mom got ready and headed up to the rooftop to grab some shots to set the scene.
The ceremony got underway without a hitch. The weather couldn’t have been more beautiful. People gathered to watch from their hotel rooms, and on the beach.
This was a treat! Will & the Caribbean Shells provided music for the ceremony & reception. They followed Liz & her Dad up the aisle and serenaded us with “Welcome to San Pedro,” a catchy little number. Mom, Kyle and I have been singing our own versions of this song ever since!
Carl wrote out his “vows” to Liz, and Kyle captured this shot of him fiddling with Liz’s ring while he was reading the vows to her. I love it.
Following the kiss, Liz & Carl went over to sign their marriage certificate. Then they were officially pronounced “husband and wife.”
After a bunch of family photos, we spent about 15 minutes with just Liz & Carl to get some great shots of them together.
We even went up onto the rooftop for a few as the sun was setting.
This one is my absolute favorite of the two of them. I want it to be a full spread in their album!
The water was so beautiful. We went out on a pier for a few shots as well.
The reception was around the pool area, surrounded by coconut trees and overlooking the ocean. The tables were decorated in vibrant turquoise and orange.
The reception was lit by twinkle lights under the tents, and the glow of the pool and Splash bar.
I like this shot of Liz & Carl’s first dance.
Mom experimented using the large zoom lens, and got this shot of Kyle and I on the dance floor. I can’t remember what we were strategizing about. Perhaps the bouquet toss.
Next post is images from our “day-after” shoot in downtown San Pedro with Liz & Carl.

Funny story on the way to Liz & Carl’s Rehearsal Dinner tonight at Elvi’s Kitchen…
We have a golf cart while we’re here. Most people here either drive a golf cart, the way we would drive a car, or they ride bikes or walk. Kyle has been our driver, and a very good one, I might add.
Tonight, we got on the cart, Mom & Kyle in the front and I sat in the back. I was turned around watching us go forward, and when I turned around, I saw these two children running towards the back of our cart. I started saying “NO, NO, NO, NO” to them because I could tell that maybe they were trying to hitch a ride with us since we had an extra seat on the back beside me.
They caught us. And it’s not like I was going to shove them off the back of our cart, so I scooted over and they sat down beside me. I asked them their names and how old they were. Seated beside me was Javier, the 11-year old, who was doing all the talking. His little brother, who was 8, sat beside him. I asked if they went to school today, and he said yes. I told him that my sister, Reagan, was 11 years old also, and Javier asked “how tall is she?” which I thought was cute. I asked where they were going, and he told me “downtown” and that’s where we were going and it was no big deal.
Then he patted his pockets, and told me “we sell bracelets.” Ah ha. Now we’re getting down to business. He pulled them out of his pocket and showed them to me. I asked him, “why are you selling bracelets?” and he said, “because we want to buy a roof.” Wow. Either that was a really great line to make the sale, OR it was the truth. Either way, I couldn’t resist. We went for the buy 2 get 1 free plan and now we each have a little beaded bracelet that we got from Javier. I hope it really does help him buy a roof!
Mom has pics on her camera, but she has already gone to bed for the night. I will try to swipe them and add them tomorrow.

A few shots from the rehearsal. There is great warm light here. We’re going up on the roof of the penthouse where Carl & Liz are staying tomorrow night for a few shots around sunset. I am SO pumped about that!

Good Morning

We survived our first night’s sleeping here in beautiful Belize. We didn’t have to set an alarm and that was a wonderful luxury in itself. We decided that we would hang around here for a little while this morning, and then maybe take our Golf Cart into town around lunchtime.
Thought you would like a little view of our spot by the pool. The gulf/beach and a boat dock is behind us, over my shoulder. There’s also a couple of hammocks under the palm trees that we’ll be trying out later!
Now, I am sure you think this is kind of pathetic…but honestly, we’re all enjoying it! I found a great little internet radio station to listen to until the “Splash Bar” opens up and starts their music. We’re just on long enough to blog and check in with the home front - we can’t really use our phones very well from here.
This is what’s ahead in the next few minutes…that gorgeous pool. We’ll probably go for a swim and then clean up to go into town for lunch.
The wedding rehearsal is today at 4pm (5pm at home) and then we’ll be going back to town for the rehearsal dinner I believe. Pics from the rehearsal and sights from town later tonight. Adios!
