Darrell & Jennifer, Engagement Pictures in McMinnville
May 30, 2007 | Filed Under engagement | 4 Comments
Darrell & Jennifer are getting married in July and I am thrilled to work with them too! We just got everything lined up this week, so the wedding will be here right around the corner! We met in downtown McMinnville this afternoon to run around and shoot their session. Despite my own wardrobe malfunction, the session went beautifully. Darrell & Jennifer are really comfortable together, and that makes photographing them a cinch! Here’s a few favorites!
Darrell - hope you had a great Soccer game tonight. Jennifer - thanks for being so positive and open to new ideas! Talk to y’all soon!
Jason & Deborah, Engagement Pictures in Antioch

I met Jason & Deborah through Chris & Jonie and I am so glad I did. I had a lot of fun hanging out with them at Turner Farms (our family’s farmhouse in Antioch) for their Engagement Session today. Here’s a few of my favorite shots!
My Mom & Bret hung these red, white & blue banners over the weekend, and they made delightful backgrounds for our summertime images.
I love how the interior of the barn framed up this shot.
We had marvelous light this afternoon.
Deborah loves the pictures in the barn. I picked this one because it is from a different angle than usual.
This shot in the grass is pretty cute. I only pulled 4 ticks off myself when I got home to get it!

Mike & Jen, Beautiful Brentwood Wedding
May 28, 2007 | Filed Under wedding | 4 Comments
As I mentioned in my previous post, Matt Dunmore and I spent Sunday with Mike & Jen for their wedding at Brentwood United Methodist Church.
I chose this shot to open up this post about Mike & Jen’s wedding because it highlights a key phrase for the whole day… “Great Joy.” The love Mike & Jen have for each other and the way they live their lives demonstrates the Great Joy they have in their hearts.
When photographing the guys before the ceremony, I noticed Mike’s tattoo on his ring finger. I am a sucker for a guy with a tattoo…
A shot of the radiant bride, from a different perspective.
One last attempt to get Alexis, the flower girl, to walk down the aisle. You can see we were unsuccessful.
This was right after the ceremony. Mike & Jen were SO joyful.
Once we wrapped up our group photos after the wedding, we ventured over to the Factory at Franklin for the reception. It was decked out in black, white and apple green and everything looked marvelous.
One of the best surprises of the night was when Mike’s Dad brought Mr. Ben - the honorary ring bearer - to the reception. (I think I want to set Ben up with my Katy…she’s a beautiful blonde too…don’t you agree they would make the best couple?)
Other vendors that made this day wonderful:
Flowers: Elaine McCord Floral Designs
Tuxedos: Street Tuxedo
Bridesmaids Dresses: Modern Bridal Shop
DJ: Nashville Party Authority
Caterer: Stoveworks Restaurant
Cake: Ivey Baird (friend of the bride…these cakes were AMAZING)
Chocolate Fountain: Mere Bulles
(PS. A word to my future brides about chocolate fountains. If you want one at your wedding, hire a professional to do it - don’t try to purchase or rent one and do it yourself. They are really tricky, and I have seen too many fountains that stop working or burn and clog up and they end up being a headache. Jen & Mike’s worked wonderfully and that’s because it was handled by someone who knows what they are doing!)
Here’s a slideshow of images from throughout the day (both mine and Matt’s). If you want to view it full screen, click HERE.
Mike & Jen - it was a Great Joy to work with you. May God richly bless your marriage.
Happy Memorial Day

It’s been a busy morning around the Bynum household today. We’re been getting ready to throw a Memorial Day Cookout/Baby Shower…I mean Party (guys are included) for our friends Bobby & Carrie. I just had to take a couple minutes and show you at least one shot from Mike & Jen’s wedding last night.
We got some killer images from this event, which I will probably post tonight or in the morning, including a slideshow.
Matt Dunmore came over from Chattanooga to shoot with me again. He is responsible for this awesome patriotic self-portrait with one of the statues on a bench at the Factory.
Take time to remember those who gave their lives defending our country so that we could be have our freedom today. Hope you spend today with the ones you love. Happy Memorial Day!
Chad & Steph, in the City

So, I have mentioned before that I love my friend Steph. I love her husband Chad equally as much. If you want a good cry, check out this post from Steph’s blog yesterday. Get a tissue first, because it is SO sweet.
Anyway, since Steph spends so much of her time creating awesome images of her clients having fun with their fiances, husbands, children, etc., she has been wanting to do a photo shoot with just she & Chad for a while now. So part of their weekend getaway to Nashville this weekend included about an hour with me! I am so honored!
Here’s a few of my favorites…I love Steph’s sassy new shoes.
We found this awesome old chair and had to do something with it.
We invaded Vandy for a bit and liked what we found. It’s kind of fun to just explore what’s around you and make do with what you see…a little bit of adventure in our day was worth it.
Here’s the slideshow, or to view it full screen, click HERE.
Inspired by Steph & Chad, I’m off to spend a little time with my hubby for the rest of the evening. Check in tomorrow night because it’s Jen & Mike’s Wedding Day tomorrow. I can’t wait!
Rylie Grace at 18 Months, on the farm in Brentwood

Do you remember a day in the life of Rylie Grace? I hung out with this sweet family back in November when Rylie Grace was a year old. I was so excited when Kerrie emailed about doing some Spring pictures to capture her at 18 months.
We shot this session at this gorgeous farmhouse in Brentwood (it’s for sale…the link is the MLS info in case you’re interested!). I love how my clients take me to the most beautiful places for sessions. I loved hearing Rylie Grace talking up a storm…she even said “Alison” which is a challenge for most kids because it’s 3 syllables. She’s advanced!
These geese (or “ducks”) were fascinating. We spent a lot of time following them.
Mmm this sweet dress was my favorite (though all of Rylie Grace’s outfits are always adorable).
This is one of my favorite shots. I think it would make the best giclee print, something I am now offering for my portrait clients…
These expressions are priceless.
Here’s a couple shots with Mom and Dad.
Look how long Rylie Grace’s legs are. She has grown up so much since November. She was enjoying being in the magnolia tree.
I couldn’t resist these little toes.
I will be adding the 18 Month photos to Rylie’s Pictage Gallery so if you viewed images from the previous session, you’re already registered to see these!

Just got this picture from Corey McNabb, a Rock Star Wedding Photographer in North Carolina. He grabbed this shot with his point & shoot camera during my presentation at the conference.
I am looking forward to hearing Corey speak at our upcoming Pictage User Group Meeting in Chattanooga on June 7. Thanks Corey!
Charleston & Malacy, Birmingham Wedding With Style
May 21, 2007 | Filed Under wedding | 2 Comments
Saturday was the perfect day for a gorgeous wedding in Birmingham, Alabama. Andrea and I had a blast working together to document Charleston & Malacy’s wedding and reception. We grabbed a quick shot together in the courtyard before beginning family portraits.
The ceremony was held at Cathedral Church of the Advent in downtown Birmingham.
Malacy looked stunning in a gorgeous Monique Lhuillier gown, purchased from Carriage House Weddings.
Carole Sullivan of Lagniappe Designs was the artist behind these amazing flowers. Check out Malacy’s bridal bouquet of peonies.
Charleston and his guys were hanging out in the courtyard for photos as well. They were all pretty cool, calm and collected.
Sarah and Lily, the beautiful flower girls.
Malacy and her Dad headed down the aisle for the ceremony. The music in this ceremony was awesome. They had a full choir singing and of course the pipe organ provided accompaniment - it sent chills up my spine.
The reception was held at Birmingham Botanical Gardens, and was perfectly orchestrated with amazing details, right down to the pink champagne. Bone Homes & Friends kept the party going late into the evening with fun dance music and soulful slow songs. Wedding Cakes were prepared by Pastry Art Bake Shoppe in Homewood, AL. The delicious food was catered by Hot and Hot Fish Club. Reception pictures in the slideshow!
Charleston & Malacy, thank you so much for inviting us to be part of your wedding. We truly enjoyed our weekend with you in Birmingham!
Touchstone/Wilson Rehearsal Dinner in Birmingham, AL
May 19, 2007 | Filed Under wedding | 1 Comment
I am so excited to be shooting in Birmingham, Alabama this weekend for Malacy Touchstone and Charleston Wilson’s wedding! I brought my dear friend (and talented photographer) Andrea Hallgren along to be my second shooter. We’re having a blast traveling together.
Last night we went to the rehearsal dinner at the home of Best Man, John Cassimus. What a perfect place for a southern evening dinner party.
Malacy actually booked me online using the Pictage photographer’s directory. Last night was the first time I had met her or Charleston in person. Aren’t they so cute together?
If you’ve known me for very long, you know that I am clumsy. But - no, I didn’t fall in the pool! Even though I would have enjoyed a swim…it was heated with a hot tub attached.
Thanks for inviting us to join you for good food and good company last night. Looking forward to our time together today!
