Commercial Construction Photography - Resource Management Company

July 31, 2008 | Filed Under commercial | Leave a Comment

I spent a few hours photographing excavation jobs in progress for Resource Management Company (RMC) this week. RMC is in the process of developing their web presence and needed plenty of action and detail shots to give to their designers a glimpse into their company. These are a few of my favorites…

Bynum Photography isn’t just available for families or weddings, but think of us when you need photos for your business or organization too!

Southern Gospel Trio Providence Road

It was a treat to finally meet these ladies in person this week. I have been corresponding with Laura Sue for what seems like forever. Laura Sue, Lindsay and Christy have blended their voices to create a delightful Southern Gospel trio, Providence Road.

Meet Laura Sue Brod

Here’s Lindsey Huggins

And Christy Grant

A few of my favorite shots from our session at the Factory.

I had them sing for me - it was so fun. Kind of felt like a music video.

Laura Sue’s musical roots come from her granddaddy, gospel music legend MosieLister. The girls sing several of his songs, so they got him to join them for a couple of photos. Here’s Mosie & Laura Sue

And the whole gang

To read more about Providence Road, check our their website. They have a show coming up in Franklin on June 1 if you’d like to check them out!

MURFREESBORO – The American Association of Webmasters announced today that Murfreesboro-based VW Web Design has been selected to receive the organization’s Gold Award for the United Way of Rutherford and Cannon Counties’ new Web site. AAWM awards are given to Webmasters and designers who have shown outstanding achievement in Web design, content and creativity.

United Way’s new site was designed by Jim Van Wicklin, the company’s owner, and features photographs taken by local photographer Alison Bynum, which illustrate the agency’s new tagline: LIVE UNITED.

“We see all the hard work and dedication that [VW Web Design] has put into constructing [United Way’s] Web site, and their efforts are well deserved,” said Donna Snyder, CEO, Awards Committee - American Association of Webmasters. “The site displays a nice clean design and layout, with quality content and informative information for your visitors.”

In addition to the new LIVE UNITED message, the site also features an easy-to-use online pledging tool, as well as a current list of the organization’s volunteer opportunities for those wanting to become more involved with the local nonprofit.

“We are extremely grateful to Jim and his team at VW Web Design for so generously donating their time and talent to create an award-winning site for United Way,” said Rachel Holder, president/CEO of United Way of Rutherford and Cannon Counties. “The site is easy to navigate, beautifully and creatively designed, and will ultimately allow us to further our mission by reaching more people than ever before.”

Live United Ad Campaign Photos for United Way of Rutherford County

I spent the last two days hanging out with the fabulous staff, volunteers, board members and agency representatives of the United Way of Rutherford & Cannon Counties. I am thrilled to share these images that will be used in the kickoff of their brand new “Live United” branding campaign. The next several blog posts will be my favorite shots from our two day commercial shoot. We had a blast!

I love the concept of these images - very “Gap ad,” as described by my friend Amanda. Check out the slideshow below, or click HERE to view it full screen.

The Secret Workshop

August 17, 2007 | Filed Under commercial, kids | 4 Comments

Well, last weekend Steph and I boarded a plane for Greensboro, North Carolina to attend the Secret Workshop. It was so hard to leave little Norah at home with her Daddy, Grammy & Granddaddy from Friday morning to Monday afternoon, but I had invested a lot of money into my plane tickets, the workshop fee and hotel room a long time before I knew Norah would be here, so I felt I really needed to go.

Once we got away from home, I was really excited to head out. I have not yet attended any educational workshops about children’s photography. I love working with children and one of the things about this workshop that intrigued me the most was learning about shooting kids in more commercial environments - like child models, catalogs, magazines, etc. These are things I would love to do eventually with my work.

We got the opportunity on Saturday to work with some child models. They were SO fun to work with - some of them were still aspiring models, and they were a little more challenging than the ones with experience - but that was part of the learning process.

I came out the door for my shooting time and the first little guy I saw was Trenton! Oh my gosh - that hair, that smile - I want to keep him.

This is probably my favorite picture of the whole day. This kid stole my heart!

This is Cruise. He was a handful. But very cute.

We were a little surprised when Will popped out of the crowd in three very stylish and cool outfits. I had to ask him how old he was before I was willing to photograph his bare chest! He’s 25. But he was a trooper in the name of looking cool - that was a wool trench coat in 100 degree heat.

Mmm mmm mmm

Y’all can also tell I am into sun flare these days.

I don’t remember her name but her eyes are so sparkly.

Ethan in awesome camo shorts

I don’t remember this handsome guy’s name either…it was a long day!

Sweet Lacey

Twins Abby and Ali and their sister Lucy. These girls are Lacey’s sisters, and they are all internationally adopted. Yay!

Here’s Lucy again.

Did I mention I would like to keep this child? Don’t you think he would be a good big brother for Norah?

He is a RIOT.

So, I am sure you already could tell that Trenton was our buddy by the end of the day. This was an attempt at a self portrait with Steph, Trenton and me, but Steph got cut out and the other shots were really bad…sorry Steph!

I have a few snapshots to add from my point & shoot camera later, but I wanted to share those photographs of the child models and throw it out there that I am interested in these types of sessions if you are looking for a photographer!

There will be some major changes to my childrens photography division in 2008 and all I can say is if you already know you want a session, you would be wise to book it for this Fall. :)

Woodfin’s Funeral Chapel, built by Dow Smith Contracting Company

My friends at Dow Smith Contracting Company needed a couple shots of Woodfin’s Funeral Chapel in Murfreesboro, so I stopped by last week to grab a few. It was a pretty day and there wasn’t much going on at the Chapel, so I was able to get these shots.

FBC Smyrna Staff Photos

Here are a few new shots for the FBC Smyrna Staff photo page of the website.

I shot the rest of the photos for the page (and several of the photos throughout the site) earlier last year. I love how they are casual and represent real activities and real people at our church.

Melanie is transitioning to a new position in our Student Ministry, focusing on ministries to Girls. Allen is our new Children’s Minister. Tim is going to be our Global Initiatives Minister. I might have their exact titles incorrect, but you get the idea. They are not all brand new to our church, but welcome to your new roles!

As things are a little slower for me this winter season, it is a great time to work on special projects like this.

Please don’t hesitate to contact me for promotional photos of your church, school or business that can be used on the web or in print materials. Great photos will communicate your message clearly. Let me know how I can help you!

Where Are You?

November 2, 2006 | Filed Under blah blah blah, commercial | Leave a Comment

It cracks me up at the amount of email and phone messages I racked up in two days, and how many of them said “Alison, where are you???” I am usually SO fast at responding to emails and phone calls because I am working in front of my computer all day. I spent the last two days working with Andrew Niesen of LaCour at David Lipscomb University here in Nashville. Andrew was shooting around campus for the new viewbook and other admissions materials and I assisted him with his equipment (I know you’re laughing since I have a broken wrist) and setting his light, etc.

It was really fun and I learned a lot just by watching another professional work. He has great interactions with his clients, and the students and administrators all felt very comfortable with him. The images I saw him create were amazing. And, I got a great workout because we definitely did not travel light. We had lots of extra gear in comparison to what I use when shooting a wedding.

So to answer your question, that’s where I have been the past two days. Sadly, I have NO pictures to share because I had way too much to do to try and carry an extra camera along, but you’ll just have to trust me when I say it was fun.
