Brian & Crystal, Southern Memphis Wedding
November 5, 2008 | Filed Under wedding | 2 Comments
Brian & Crystal were married a few weeks ago at Le Pavillion in Memphis. From the beginning of the day with Crystal at the salon, to the end of the day with a sparkler exit, Kyle and I truly enjoyed being with this couple and their family and friends.
Crystal planned a lovely Southern event. She even put live cotton blossoms in her bouquet and in Brian’s boutonniere (have you ever tried to spell this word? i just had to look it up because i wasn’t even close!)
We photographed Brian and Crystal individually, and then arranged a private moment for them to meet and see each other before the ceremony. We were able to take our time with some relaxed portraits and then the family portraits and that left only shots with grandparents and extended family after the ceremony - which only took about 20 minutes.
The beautiful bride
The handsome groom
The meeting - this first photo they were both in the shot but hadn’t seen each other yet. It was Crystal’s idea, and though I was skeptical, we love the results!
A few portraits of the happy couple

Thanks so much for allowing us to be part of your day!

I enjoyed spending a few hours with Jack & Terri and their family on Saturday afternoon for their wedding at Carriage Lane Inn in Murfreesboro. Here’s a few of my favorite images from the day.
Beautiful Terri
Handsome Jack
Terri’s adorable children Anna and Carter…I love this shot. To catch them both being still for a moment was a huge feat for me…
Exiting the ceremony - full of joy
We ducked inside one of the bed & breakfast houses for some casual portraits in the air conditioning

A shot from the reception - the toast
Headed for the honeymoon - bubbles for the exit

Kelley & Johnnie, Summer Wedding at Scarritt Bennett, Nashville TN

Forgive the extra few days that it took me to blog this wedding! I am spending the week in West Tennessee with Brad’s family, helping his Mom around the house as she recovers from knee replacement surgery. Norah’s being such a good girl while I am busy cooking and cleaning. I am sure she is in shock - she’s probably not seen me do too much of either at home on a regular basis!
Kelley & Johnnie were married this Saturday at the beautiful Wightman Chapel at Scarritt Bennett in Nashville. The bright yellow/orange/hot pink color palette that Kelley & Johnnie selected was the perfect compliment to the warm and sunny July afternoon when they were married. Below are some of my favorite shots from the day…
Johnnie and his groomsmen, hanging out before the ceremony
One of the flower girls getting ready
Kelley being dressed by her sisters
And the beautiful results…
Kelley and the aforementioned sisters, Alex & Shai
Mr & Mrs Winters
Johnnie with his sisters and dad/stepmom
Kelley & Johnnie did one of those fantastic choreographed first dances that I KNOW will end up on youTube as soon as Sarah, the wonderful videographer is finished editing!
One more of the precious flower girls - they were best friends before they ever walked down the aisle together!
All shots above were photographed at Scarritt Bennett.
Then we ventured offsite to capture a few additional images of Kelley & Johnnie together!
This yellow recording studio was a perfect match for them!

And because some certain groomsmen put silly string all over Johnnie’s clean car and it was getting to him, we made a last minute trip to the car wash for probably my favorite moments of the day.
Many thanks to Stephanie Edens for her work as my second shooter for the day. Kelley & Johnnie - congratulations!
Cortney & Michael, Murfreesboro Wedding at Carriage Lane Inn

I can think of many words to describe Cortney & Michael’s wedding day, but the one that comes to mind most quickly is HOT. But hey, what else would we have hoped for than beautiful sunshine and blue skies for a garden wedding in June? Cortney & Michael wouldn’t have cared if it poured however. They were so happy to be together and to become husband and wife. It was a fabulous day all around.
They chose to have a private moment together in the early afternoon so that they could spend time talking, praying and shaking some of the pre-wedding anxiety that is so common. Their first meeting.
The bridesmaids dresses were an awesome bright blue, and combining those with the bright yellow gerber daisies made a great blue and yellow color palette.
We loved Michael’s shoes
A sweet touch to this ceremony was that Michael & Cortney wrote their own wedding vows
The flower girl was so sweet and took great care to make sure the two little ring bearers made it down the aisle. Kyle got this shot.
Husband and wife at last!
Blue cake - love it
First dance
Mrs. Faye was having a great time at the reception. She looked up at the right time and I love just love this photo of her. She is so special to so many people, I decided to include it here just because.
Love the joy that is radiating from Michael & Cortney’s faces in this shot
Thanks so much for everything Michael & Cortney! May God richly bless your life together.

Josh & Jessica, Murfreesboro Wedding at World Outreach

A big congratulations to Josh & Jessica, who were married yesterday morning at World Outreach Church in Murfreesboro. They couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful day, and I really enjoyed spending the morning with them - their friends and family were all really laid back and fun to be around.
Josh and his groomsmen
Jessica and her bridesmaids
A little detail from the ceremony I really liked. Josh’s grandfather was doing a scripture reading, and this is him holding his Bible before it was his time to speak.
Some portraits of the happy couple

From the reception, the best man’s toast (just happens to be my little brother Kyle)
Before Josh removed Jessica’s garter
And these guys got the most birdseed dumped on them that I have EVER seen.

Jeremy & Jenny, Wedding at Carriage Lane Inn in Murfreesboro

Sunday was a beautiful day for a wedding in the garden at Carriage Lane Inn in Murfreesboro. Jenny and her bridesmaids stayed all night in the Cottage and enjoyed getting ready leisurely through the afternoon.
Jeremy and the groomsmen arrived later and hung out in the Yellow House until it was time for a few photos.
Jenny warned me that things could get emotional. I thought it was sweet that it actually did…tears and laughter were all jumbled together.
The beautiful bride
The ceremony was packed!
I loved the details that Jenny chose for the bridesmaids…parasols, flip flops and those fabulous green floral dresses

Congratulations guys!

Rebecca & Dan, Wedding at Belle Meade Plantation
May 5, 2008 | Filed Under wedding | Leave a Comment
On Saturday, Steph and I headed out to the Belle Meade Plantation to photograph Rebecca & Dan’s wedding.
I knew it was going to be a good day when I uncovered Rebecca’s Paloma Blanca wedding gown (purchased from Arzelle’s in Nashville).
Rebecca chose a cheery color palette of bright pink (bridesmaids dresses from J.Crew), orange and yellow to bring her wedding day to life.
The weather couldn’t have been more perfect.
The light for portraits following the ceremony was amazing. The awesome bouquet of peonies was thanks to the brilliant Tulip Tree.
Food was catered by Monell’s and the traditional southern dinner of fried chicken, barbecue, mashed potatoes, green beans, sweet corn, rolls, salads and the sweetest sweet tea was a nice treat for the wedding guests since most were out of town visitors.
This adorable cake was designed by the folks at Dulce Desserts in Hillsboro Village.
First Dance as the sun was slowly falling below the horizon. Jeff from Nashville Party Authority kept the music going and the majority of the wedding guests on the dance floor for the whole night.
Rebecca & Dan - it was a pleasure being with you on Saturday. Congratulations!
Megan & Erick, Nashville Wedding and Reception with Style
April 30, 2008 | Filed Under wedding | 2 Comments
Megan & Erick had one of my most favorite weddings that I have photographed to date. As Steph (who came along as my fabulous second shooter) and I were heading home after the reception we could not stop talking about how fun everyone was to be around, how laid back the reception was, and what an awesome location they had chosen to celebrate their marriage with friends and family. Thank you guys for including us. OK - since that is out of the way - on to what you’re waiting for…some photos!
I started the day bright and early with Megan at Carol G’s Salon in Brentwood, one of my favorites, for hair and makeup. Megan’s long and beautiful hair took quite a while but it was worth the wait!
We headed to Olive Branch Church in Antioch for the ceremony.
Beautiful Bride
Handsome Groom
Quick ring shot…
I think this was where Megan wholeheartedly agreed that she would OBEY Erick. Priceless facial expressions…
The newlyweds

A shot that I love of Megan and her three beautiful, very respectful and loving children
Megan & Erick’s reception was held at Cabana Nashville, in Hillsboro Village/Belcourt area. When we walked in and saw that the whole room was floor to ceiling windows on two sides, Steph and I lit up with excitement. It was so dreamy and the light was amazing. The cake was delicious…I might have tasted the vanilla and the chocolate layers. Might have.
The food was delicious as well. When I saw Scott coming towards me with this plate I had to get the shot cause I think he displayed it nicely. And I loved his seersucker suit.
There were many friends and family members who came to celebrate with Megan & Erick. I love this shot that Steph grabbed - I just wish I knew what was so funny!
Couple more portraits to end the afternoon. We couldn’t miss the chance to use those fabulous windows and our glamorous bride and groom.
Thank you so much again for including us in your day. It was truly enjoyable!

Katie & Travis, Romantic Candle-lit Wedding
April 22, 2008 | Filed Under wedding | Leave a Comment
Remember Katie & Travis?

We so enjoyed being a part of their romantic candle-lit wedding last Friday night at Victory Missionary Baptist Church in Hendersonville. It was a terribly gray and rainy day but that did not dampen spirits of the many many friends and family who gathered to celebrate with them.
Travis looked great. He was keeping a close eye on his truck before the ceremony. He had a feeling there might be some funny business.

Katie was ready to rock n roll! I love this shot because it is so HER. She has carried a lot of the stress of the details of the wedding. She was SO ready to get down that aisle to Travis.

Katie’s mother made this beautiful garter from the lace of her own wedding gown.

See how dreamy the church looked all lit up with candles? I love the warm glow on their faces. It was a really beautiful atmosphere.

Travis played the guitar and sang one of my favorite hymns, “It is Well.”

The kiss was spectacular and full of joy!

My favorite shots at every wedding are after the bride & groom get down the aisle. Typically couples embrace and laugh and kiss and it’s just pure happiness. Travis and Katie were no different. She grabbed his hand to look at his ring and it just worked out for me that I was paying attention. I love his ring.

This is a first for me, but I love it and hope that I see more of it. Travis’s parents brought their family Bible, and had the minister and the best man (Travis’s brother) sign and date it. So special.

I love the perspective on this shot. Look how many people were waiting on them as they entered the reception!

A shot of Katie’s bouquet and the embroidered ribbons hanging down. Nice detail.

Thank you so much for letting me be part of your wedding. Have a great honeymoon next week! Thanks also to Steph for coming along as my second shooter.

Another shot of Jeff & Anne’s Wedding in Franklin
March 15, 2008 | Filed Under wedding | Leave a Comment
I am working on uploading one of my last weddings from 2007 tonight and I came across this striking image of Jeff & Anne’s Wedding. I hadn’t noticed it in my previous post. I love it when I find more images to fall in love with after I haven’t seen them in a while.
I am only accepting a few more wedding commissions for 2008, so if you’re interested let me know. I am trying hard to only accept the amount of business that I can handle appropriately now that I am balancing running a business with being a stay at home mommy too.
